On 4 September, Robinhood Chain’s explorer stopped printing new blocks. L2BEAT logged 6 minutes 12 seconds without data posted to Ethereum. Status pages spoke of a sequencer incident. The chain is a Layer 2. L2s with a single sequencer have a single off button.

Six minutes is not an hour. It is not “funds lost” by default. It is a halt in block production, then a resume. We do not have, in this sitting, a proven loss of principal from the pause. We have a duration and a design.

Why it matters anyway

A broker that names a chain after itself sells convenience. Convenience often means a sequencer the house runs. When it pauses, deposits wait, withdrawals wait, the explorer looks dead. Ethereum L1, in the same minutes, kept producing blocks. That is the split we already teach in the glossary.

If you were mid-transaction: wait for the official status, do not sign a “speed-up” from a stranger DM. That path is a drainer.

What is held, what is not

  • Held: 4 September, explorer stall, L2BEAT 6 min 12 s without data to Ethereum, a sequencer incident as described by status pages.
  • Not held: stolen funds from this pause. A shutdown of Robinhood the broker. That “L2s are dead”. A migrate-now call.

A few minutes on a house sequencer is a design review, not a morality play. Read who runs the off button before you park size.
