10 September. ESMA, the EU’s stock-market watchdog, writes that the largest news-betting sites do not have the green light to sell that in the EU. It names Polymarket and Kalshi. Per the report, those bets can be treated as a financial product, as crypto, or as gambling, depending on the country.

Both sites shut the door to some EU countries, not all. ESMA asks why. It also notes you can still get in by pretending to be in another country, The Block writes. France has already asked for Polymarket to be blocked. This is not a shutdown for all of Europe. It is a report, and a missing green light.
