10 September. MoneyGram launches a Visa card backed by a stable dollar. First country: Colombia. The card is virtual, in the app. It can go into Apple Wallet or Google Wallet, and pay where Visa is taken. The dollar in the account, at launch, is USDC. MoneyGram wants to plug in its own token, MGUSD, later. That is not the case yet.

Local cash can also be picked up at a MoneyGram shop. A physical card, with ATMs, is promised for late 2026. The technical partner is Rain. Crossmint handles the wallet, Stellar the network, crypto.news says. You must be in an open country and pass identity checks. Colombia is first. Latin America is meant to follow. The exact countries are not given.

What this does not say

This is not a bank. This is not bitcoin. It is a dollar in an app, spendable at Visa. We already had Visa on the on-chain card side. Here the subject is everyday remittances. Fees are not in the announcement. Nothing here is advice to open an account.
