11 September. Tether says the U.S. Justice Department thanked it for help. In one day, more than $52 million in crypto tied to Xinbi Guarantee was frozen. Per the DOJ, Xinbi is a Telegram market linking scammers with vendors of laundering, fake sites and recruitment. Two wallets were seized, about $12 million. Forty-seven more were targeted.
The U.S. Treasury listed Xinbi as a transnational criminal organization, Chainalysis writes. The United Kingdom had already sanctioned it in March. Tether can freeze USDT: that is the lever police used. This is not a verdict on every USDT holder; it is a freeze. We had already described that key power.
